Bruce A. “Whitey” Spinney

Age 92, of Lansing, MI, passed away May 18, 2018. He was born December 31, 1925, in Lansing, MI, to Otis and Kathleen Spinney.

Bruce was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific. He retired from Oldsmobile and was also a lifelong self-employed carpenter. He loved his time living in Park, Kansas, and always loved returning visits. He enjoyed and loved his family, collecting coins, hunting, fishing, bowling, racing, baseball, football and going out to Carl Angeleo`s, DeMarco’s and Dagwoods, where he acquired many friends.

He is survived by his wife, Muriel; son, Bruce Spinney, Jr.; grandchildren, Richard (Lisa) Spinney, Tamara (John Robel) Spinney, and Marie Kennedy; great-grandchild, Jessica Wingo; sister, Laura Wells; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Ronald, brothers Roy and Fred, and sisters Marjorie and Vivian.

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. Interment with military honors will follow in Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI. His family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

I will miss Bruce very much. He could always make me laugh even if I didn’t feel like it. A lot of good memories. Praying for the family.
