Bruce Harold Leavitt
Bruce Harold Leavitt, 87, of Lansing, MI, son of the late Harold and Ruth (McKim) Leavitt died May 8, 2014. He served in the Pacific on the destroyer USS C.P. Cecil. A graduate of Michigan State College, he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity.
Bruce began his career as a purchasing agent at John Bean FMC and continued at the City of Lansing until his retirement in 1987. He served as President of the Forest Road School Board and was a member of the Board of R.E. Olds Museum.
A kind and gentle man, as good as his word, he truly represented “The Greatest Generation.” Survivors are his wife of sixty-five years, Barbara; son, Scott Leavitt of Lansing; daughter, Jane (Steve) Anderson of Saginaw; grandchildren, Keely Knopp of Baltimore, MD and Kyle Knopp of Saginaw; sister, Marilyn Woodings of Crawfordsville, IN; and other extended family members.
A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2014, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Capital Area Humane Society.
