Bonnie Whitehead

Age 92, of Holt, MI, passed away on October 28, 2025.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Bob, of 53 years.  Surviving are: son, Bob (Kathy) of Illinois; daughter, Teresa (Dan) of Holt; 2 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Bonnie was born June 2, 1933, and has resided her entire life in her childhood home in Holt. She had many stories of growing up on Grovenburg Road with her two best friends, Bev and Joyce from the sleigh ride in the winter down to the one room Grovenburg School, jumping out the school window being caught by a classmate for a fire drill, heating lunch on the school’s wood burner stove and ice skating and sledding on the Harper Rd. pond.

Bonnie had a strong faith and first attended the Grovenburg United Methodist Church when she was 8 years old and remained a member until the church’s closing in 2018. She served as the church organist for several years and contributed to the church’s needs whenever she could.

Bonnie retired from the Holt Public School System where she touched the lives of many children and formed several lifelong friendships.  After retirement she enjoyed her second home at the lake just relaxing.

In later years Bonnie reunited with an old acquaintance Jim Drushel and enjoyed several years of traveling and companionship.

Bonnie was a little woman but big on faith, spirit and compassion.   She will be greatly missed by family and friends.

The funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. in Markham Cemetery, Holt. Her family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
