Blanche "Irene" Dohm (Howell)
Lansing, Michigan.
Born October 1, 1919 in Traverse City, Michigan, daughter of the late Carl and Blanche Simmon, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 20, 2014.
Irene was former President of Tamarack Senior Center; was an avid bowler and golfer; served for 17 years on the board of the Lansing Women’s Bowling Association and enjoyed attending her grandchildrens’ sporting events and family gatherings.
Survivors include her sons, Gary (Terry) Howell and Carl (Susan) Howell; her daughter-in-law, Sandra Hellmann; her 9 grandchildren, Lori (Norm) DeClercq, Lisa (Mark) Green, Lee Howell, Lana Howell, Christi Pentecost, Cindy (Steve) Manko, Tod (Michele) Howell, Tom (Erica) Howell, and Tim Howell; 15 great grandchildren; her brother Thomas (Mary) Simmon; her special friend and caregiver, Terrie Wilder, along with many nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
Irene was preceded in death by her first husband, Roy Howell; second husband, Phil Dohm; son, Thomas Howell; sisters, Marion (Bill) Flynn and Jane (Don) Melton; brother, Sonny (Jane) Simmon and Jesse (Rose) Davenport, who was like a brother to her.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel with Pastor Michele Childs of Holt United Methodist Church officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
Those who wish, may make memorial contributions in Irene’s memory to Great Lakes Caring Hospice.
