Bernice Marie Peterson
Bernice, of Houghton Lake, formerly of Lansing, received her crown of glory on July 18, 2012, at the age of 89. She was born March 4, 1923, in Lansing, the daughter of the late Walter and Louise Stachel. She loved her family, her church and her Lord, and was an avid golfer and bowler.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Ervin “Lee” Peterson; children, Diane (Robert) Dowding, Carol Peterson, James Peterson, Edwin (Lori) Peterson and Richard Peterson; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Martha Whiting and Margery (David) Meerman; sisters-in-law, Mary and Lois Stachel; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Allen Peterson.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2012, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 501 W. Saginaw St., Lansing, with Pastor William Winter and Pastor Rodney Morrison officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
