Barbara Ann (Ives) Perez

Barbara Ann (Ives) Perez, born on November 20, 1947 in San Antonio, Texas, passed away after a long battle with cancer on May 28, 2018.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Ives, sister Mary Driver, brother-in-law Stephen Michael Sparks, brother-in-law Kenneth Driver, and her husband, Alfredo, who she will be joining after almost 20 years apart. Barbara enjoyed camping, hiking with her friends and traveling with her sisters. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.  She never missed one of their games, no matter how lousy the weather was that day.  She would take them camping whenever she could (kids weren’t actually allowed) and became a huge Star Wars, Marvel, Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings nerd and could talk with them about any of the subjects for days.

Her children, Alexander J. Perez and Victoria P. Yasurek, and her grandchildren, Rodrigo Enriquez and Alexander Perez, are going to miss her terribly.  She is survived by her father and stepmother, Richard and Lee Ives; sisters, Laura Thiel and Sandra Bierer; brothers, Terrance Ives and Scott Ives; special uncle and aunt, Tony and Carmen Benavides; as well as numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family, and many close friends.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2018, at St. Mary Cathedral, 219 Seymour Ave., Lansing, Michigan 48933, with the Rite of Committal to follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.  There will be a visitation from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel with a Rosary Service at 7:30 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Fund at https://www.tpwf.org/
