Barbara Bacon
Age 90, of Holt, MI, passed away August 28, 2018. She was born at the family farmhouse on October 4, 1927, in Sparta, Michigan. Barbara worked as a crossing guard for Holt Public Schools for 20 years and was a volunteer at Ingham Medical Center and the McRee House for 26 years. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Holt, where she sang in the choir for 65 years. In her early years Barbara was the elevator operator at the Olds Building, serving R.E. Olds himself. She loved gardening, sewing and spending time with her family and friends and especially grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by daughter, Lois Bacon. Surviving are: her husband of 70 years, Richard Bacon; 2 daughters, Janeth Campion and Jean Preston (John Bukoski); 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sisters, Emily (Rudy) Cooper and Chloe (Keith) McGeeHee; brothers, Robert (Pat) Bradford and Stuart (Harda) Bradford; sister-in-law, Judy Taylor; brothers-in-law, Dwight (Cathy) Bacon and Louis (Kate) Bacon; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Holt, 2021 N. Aurelius Rd., at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 6, 2018. Her family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, 383 Main Avenue, 5th Floor, Norwalk, CT 06851 in memory of Barbara Bacon.
