Arlene M. Twichell

   Age 87, of Williamston, MI, died October 9, 2010. Born August 27, 1923, in Clinton, Michigan. She married her high school sweetheart and love of her life in 1942. She worked for East Lansing Public Schools, in food services. She enjoyed her summers at the family cottage in Gladwin, Michigan.  Throughout her retirement years, winters were spent in Florida with her husband and daughters. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who reveled in family gatherings and keeping up with all the news. Many will keep fond memories of her as a great hostess and cook, and for baking an endless supply of zucchini bread. She handled herself with a level of grace and dignity that few can match, and she will be dearly missed.  

   She was preceded in death by her father, Bena Daniels; mother, Ferne (Woodring) Daniels; sister, Millie Clark; son-in-law, Rob Phillips; and husband, Harley Twichell. She is survived by her brother, Robert Daniels; 5 children, Patricia Phillips, Gail (Bruce) McConnell, Ben (Connie), Mark (Nancy) and Brad; 11 grandchildren, Cheryl Fox and Scott (Rhonda) Phillips; Jeff (Kelly) McConnell and Todd (Theresa) McConnell; Dannielle (John) DeGroot, Bena (Rachelle), Jared  (Jenna) and Savannah Twichell; Kurt, Jay and Shannon Twichell; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. 

   The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 12, 2010, at 12:00 p.m., at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 11, at the funeral home, from 6-8 p.m.  Those desiring may make contributions to the American Lung Association, in memory of Mrs. Twichell.
