Anne Irene Burnett

Lansing, Michigan

Born September 22, 1929, in Chicago, Illinois, daughter of the late John and Emily (Durkovic) Danko passed away Thursday, February 22, 2024 at the age of 94. Anne retired from the State of Michigan as an Executive Secretary in 1987. She was an avid MSU basketball and football fan, enjoyed playing bingo, shopping, playing cards, going to the casino, and ballroom and polka dancing with her husband, Stan. When she was younger, she enjoyed sewing, including sewing her own wedding gown. She also loved her Slovak heritage. Her true passion though, was spending time with and taking care of her family, especially her grandchildren. She showed unselfish qualities being a caregiver most of her life. First her Mother, who had Multiple Sclerosis for over 30 years and then her husband Stan who suffered from dementia for over 20 years.

Surviving are her 3 children, Scott (Lynne) Burnett, Todd Burnett, and Andrea Seyka; 7 grandchildren, Matt (Vini) Burnett, Jill (Beau) Bradley, Zac (Kassie) Seyka, Chris (Lauren) Seyka, Lauren Burnett, Nicole Burnett, and Mitch (Allie) Burnett, and her 4 great grandchildren, Owen, Madeleine, Charlotte, and Jackson. Anne was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Burnett; sister, Emilie (Jake) Schramek, and her son-in-law, Ronald Seyka.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, March 8, 2024 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, March 8th from 1:00 p.m. until service time at 3:00 p.m.
Those who wish may make memorial contributions, in loving memory of Anne, to Hospice of Lansing – Stoneleigh Residence or the Alzheimer’s Association.

Our sympathy to Anne’s wonderful family and know that she is in a special place with the love of her life. We have always been very close and spent great times together. Cruising, skiing and traveling. Her book brought back so many memories from our early years. We were more like sisters than cousins. We will love and miss you so much. Hope you find a Yahtzee player that
can compete with you. Think of you often

My mother, Agnes Burnett, thought Uncle Stan was extraordinary in waiting to find that special someone in his life. Not only did he find Aunt Anne but was rewarded with a beautiful family. Sincere condolences

I didn’t want to pick up another client, but when I met Anna and talked to her she was a beautiful person inside and out so the very next day I was helping her get to bed from there on every night, we would sit and talk and of course watch wheel of Fortune for 30 min. she was a breath of fresh air I enjoyed my time with her. May she rest in peace with her husband Stan!!

Anne and I have been friends for a long time. Thanks to Anne for all the fun we have had over the years. we worked together and did a lot of laughing. I so enjoyed helping the kids with Anne and Stan’s 25th anniversary party. Even after we retired, we got together once in a while for lunch. I am so thankful that I talked to her on the phone a very short time ago. Time goes by so fast and we never know when we will be able to talk with someone again. Thank you, my dear friend.
