Anna J. Lampela

Anna J. LampelaBorn June 26, 1928, passed away April 2, 2015. She was preceded in death by:  her dear husband of 48 years, Allen Lampela; brothers, Joseph Joseph and Louis Joseph; sisters, Mary Joseph, Emily (Roger) Peck and Kathryn Joseph; half sister, Edna (Abe) Alekel; half brother, Sheridan (Ann) Joseph.  She is survived by: three daughters, Cynthia (David) Marofske, Marcia Lampela, Lisa Lampela (Raymond Cowling); two grandchildren, Eric Marofske and Marisa Marofske; sisters, Mabel Joseph, Helen Joseph and Martha McDonald and numerous nieces and nephews.

 Anna was born to immigrant Lebanese parents in Alpena, one of 11 children.  As a young woman she moved to Lansing where she met and married Allen and lived for the rest of her life. She earned an Associate Degree at Lansing Community College and worked for Michigan Public Health Association and Michigan Lung Association during her career. She was generous with her time, volunteering for many organizations, including 30 years with the Mary Magdalen League at Sparrow Hospital. Her strong faith was expressed through countless years of dedicated service at First Baptist Church, now known as Christ Community Church. She was an avid bridge player, a member of the Young at Heart singers, and belonged to the Grand Ledge Country Club for many years, all activities that she enjoyed together with her husband. This loving and giving wife, mother and loyal friend who was full of energy and life will be missed by so many.

Visitation is 4.00-7.00 p.m. Monday at Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, 325 W. Washtenaw Street. Additional visitation Tuesday at Christ Community Church, 227 North Capitol Avenue, from 9.00-10.00 a.m. followed by funeral service at 10.00 a.m. Interment will follow at Delta Center Cemetery. Donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made to Christ Community Church (christcommunitylansing.org) or Michigan Blind Braille and Talking Books Library (libraryofmichiganfoundation.org/pages/contribute.html) or City Rescue Mission of Lansing (lcrm.org).

We are sad to hear of the loss of your dear Mom. We remember the good times we shared, especially during the holidays, (Anna was quite the game player). May your memories comfort and surround you.
