Ann Elizabeth (DeVries) Mutersbaugh
Ann Mutersbaugh of Okemos, MI, age 89, passed from this life to the next on August 18, 2024. She was born in Detroit, Michigan, on November 8, 1934, the daughter of Clarence and Margaret (Hirt) DeVries. Ann grew up in Detroit, working at the family’s specialty food store and at a florist. She attended Evangelical Deaconess Hospital Nursing School and graduated in 1955. It was there she made life-long friends and began her career as an RN. She married Stan Mutersbaugh in 1956 and they moved to Lansing where she worked in pediatrics at St. Lawrence Hospital. She went on to volunteer for over 25 years at the Jean Granger Prenatal Clinic in Lansing. Her calling was to care for those in need and she was proud to keep her license active well into her 70’s.
Ann was a devoted wife, mother and friend. She taught us to be self-sufficient, to serve others, and to love God and family. Throughout their sixty year marriage Ann was adored by her husband, as well as everyone she met. She was a people-person and will be dearly missed.
Surviving are her brother, David DeVries of Detroit, 2 daughters, Lisa (William) Way of Raleigh, NC, and Susan (Greg) Baca of Boulder, CO; 4 grandchildren, Rachel and Andrew Way, Jonah and Ella Baca; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stan Mutersbaugh, and three of four brothers; Tom, Jack, and Neal.
The family would like to thank “Queen Elizabeth’s” companions Mona David, Febe Kulang, and Darlene Brown for the excellent care, kindness and love they showed to her and the Mutersbaugh girls.
A Memorial Service will be held at Noon on Thursday, August 29 at Bretton Woods Covenant Church, 925 Bretton Road, Lansing. Visitation before the service at 11am and during the luncheon following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bretton Woods Covenant Church. Arrangements are by the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.
