Amelia Grace Whitehead
Amelia Grace Whitehead (“Mia”, b. June 8th, 2023), daughter of Nathan and Lisa Whitehead, came into this world on a prayer. From the 20 week ultrasound, she was never supposed to make it. Her strength and tenacity pulled her through, and she defied the odds for nearly three years. Amelia loved people; she never met a stranger who didn’t deserve a smile and a wave. She cared about nothing but being in the company of others. Her huge and outgoing personality endeared her to the hearts of her “second family” on floor 10 at CS Mott Children’s hospital, who fought her many battles with her. Though strong of will, stubborn, and a hard fighter, her flawed physical heart, was not nearly as strong as her spiritual heart. On May 13th, 2026, she left her broken body behind to be with the Lord. She was welcomed into heaven by her paternal grand parents, Ray and Dee Whitehead of Dimondale. Her heart warming smile, mischievous behavior, and deep, belly shaking laughs leave an un-fillable void in the hearts of many, including her parents Nate and Lisa, and sister Charleigh of Potterville, her maternal grand parents Doug and Linda of Grand Ledge, Uncle Mike (Danielle) Goodrich of Dewitt, Aunt Amanda (Chad) DeKatch of Okemos, and her adoring and doting cousins Ava, Phin, Solly and Isla.
The funeral to celebrate Amelia’s life will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 22, 2026 at Journey Life Church, 2289 Cedar St., Holt, MI 48842. For those who wish to attend the interment service , burial will take place on Friday at 1:30 p.m., at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd, Holly, MI 48442. Visitation will be Thursday, 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, 325 W. Washtenaw St., Lansing, MI 48933, and for one hour prior the funeral on Friday at the Church. Memorial donations in Amelia’s name may be made to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Ann Arbor ,1600 Washington Heights, Ann Arbor, MI 48104

May 16, 2026 at 12:53 pmAmelia was your little angel on earth. She taught us all how to be brave, strong, love completely and to celebrate life each and every day!! She also showed the community how brave, loving and strong her parents and family are. She was loved and cared for by them all!
You will miss her sweet smile and beautiful spirit, but know she is in Gods arms surrounded with his love. She is a beautiful happy angel whose love will be with you forever!!
Prayers to you for peace, comfort and healing.

May 16, 2026 at 1:11 pmMia touched our hearts & enriched our lives in the way only a tender, joyful precious child can. We always looked forward to receiving the pictures, videos, milestones & updates you shared with us Nate. They made us laugh out loud & brightened our day. Mia’s voice, her laughter & her radiant smile lit up a room. Our words & hearts so desperately want to ease your pain & give comfort as you suffer through the tragic grief of losing your child, a perfect little angel. But, there simply are no words great enough. There are two things that change our lives forever…love & death. Mia loved well & will always be well-loved.
We send our heartfelt sympathy,
Fonda, Keri & Morgyn Thompson

May 18, 2026 at 3:23 pmAmelia will always hold a special place in my heart – her huge smiles, mischievous ways, and crocodile rolls with all her lines and tubes will always be a special memory for me. Thank you for entrusting us with her care, I am so thankful to have taken care of such a special girl. Many early mornings I remember having dance parties with Amelia and Ms. Rachel. May her memory be a blessing always.
