Allan D. Dale, Sr.
Age 76, of Haslett, MI, passed away February 21, 2017, at home with his family. He was born August 14, 1940, in Sault Ste. Marie, MI, to William and Effie Dale.
Allan moved to East Lansing to attend MSU in 1962, where he received a bachelor’s in Marketing. He then became a recipient of a Ford Foundation Fellowship. He was a great entrepreneur and innovator in the electronics field. He loved to encourage new talent, giving them a place to grow and learn. Allan was the founder of various companies, all centered around the concept of family first. Allan loved his wife Karen, and his children and just adored his grandchildren. He was also an avid outdoorsman who traveled all over the world seeking adventures with his wife and family.
Allan lived by his mottos: “travel before you are too old and cannot enjoy the splendor of it all” and “if you do what you love, you will always do well.”
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Karen Melin Dale; children, Angela Dale of Haslett and Andrea Dale of Cincinnati; 8 grandchildren, Allan Dale III, Aerial Dale, Rick Roth, Jr., Samantha (Justin) Leverett, Gary Roth, Emily Roth, Nicholas Algeo, and Matthew Algeo; 4 great-grandchildren, Justin, Jr., Kayleigh, Willow and Milo Leverett; brother, Ronald (Bernice) Dale; and numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his son, Allan Dale, Jr., his parents, and 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, February 24, 2017, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. In lieu of a memorial contribution or floral tributes, Allan would prefer that you go out and experience your own adventure in his honor.

February 24, 2017 at 1:41 pmDear Dale Family–
I was so sad to get the news about the passing of Allan. He was a kind man, who helped me in many ways during my Michigan years. I remember the days working at Dale Computer Corporation and Adak Communications and seeing the brilliance of Allan in action. He certainly touched many lives over the years with his kindness and through his electronics prowess.
Andrea and Angela, I’m so sorry on the loss of your dad. I hope that you are able to be there for each other and also for your mom. This has to be so hard on all of you, and I wish that I could be in attendance at the funeral. I’m certainly there in spirit.
Karen, just wanted to send a personal message to thank you for being a mom to me for many years. I know it has to be hard to lose your mate, but I’m thankful that you had so many wonderful years together. I know that Allan will continue to watch over you.
Thinking of all of you at this trying time. Love, Jim
