Alfred Dayton "Freddie" White

Alfred Dayton “Freddie” White was a remarkable young man who touched the lives of many people throughout his 18 years. He was born on February 16, 1996 in Lansing, MI and passed away peacefully on August 11, 2014 surrounded by his family. His life was cut short as a result of a vehicle accident. He was currently of Holt, MI.

Alfred was beloved for his sense of fun. His friends and family enjoyed teasing Alfred and being teased by him.  His smile and laughter were contagious. Freddie was a highly regarded discus thrower, shot putter and football player at Holt High School, Class of 2014, where he won the Student Athlete of the Month Award and the Ironman Award.  In addition to his strength, Alfred had a softer side. He was kind and nurturing. Friends felt welcome and safe in his home. Freddie also loved nature and animals. He was planning on attending Ferris State University in the fall and majoring in criminal justice.  Alfred will always be remembered for his energy and exuberance. He brought a bright ray of light into this world.

Alfred leaves behind a large and loving family including his beloved mother, Nancy Dayton, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and pets. He also leaves behind many friends including his girlfriend, Kayla.

The family would like to express their deep appreciation for the exceptional care from the doctors, nurses and staff of Sparrow Hospital PICU.

A memorial gathering will be held Friday, August 15, 2014, from 4 to 7 p.m. with a short program beginning at 4:30 p.m., at First Presbyterian Church of Holt in their Fellowship Hall. Memorial contributions may be made to Somerset Congregational Church, Somerset, MI and Voiceless-MI, Charlotte, MI, a non-profit animal rescue.

“Bye Mom, Love you.” “Love you too.”

My fondest memory of Alfred was when he played soccer with Peter and they found out that they both loved Civil War stuff and that is how they struck up a friendship. Alfred was so kind and polite and a genuinely nice young man. My heart goes out to Nancy and the entire family. Thoughts and prayers,
Mary Shutt

Dear Nancy,
It is at this time of sorrow that I must thank you and tell you how blessed I am. It is because of our friendship that I was able to of spent time with Freddie. I watched him grow into the kindest, most compassionate young man I have ever known. He was a true inspiration. I will never be able to watch one of God’s creatures without seeing Freddie’s smile. His kindness and gentle nature will always be in my thoughts, I am Truly blessed.

A sure tragedy to have lost you young Alfred. Just seeing your wonderful smile brings about a pleasant presence of peace and gentleness. The family who will never know you now will forever feel a regrettable loss and sense of sadness. Might the angels of God keep you comforted and might they surround your friends also until such time that we might see you again in the eternal and everlasting life and see your glowing smile again.

Truly yours, RIP young cuz we love you man.
