Age 86, of Clearwater, Florida, Alex passed away October 24, 2011, in Palm Harbor, FL. He was born December 29, 1924, in Grand Ledge, to Harry and Stella Funtukis. Alex completed his undergraduate education at MSU, and received his master’s degree from U of M. He was the owner of Funtukis Pharmacy in Grand Ledge, until his retirement to Clearwater, FL, in the 1980s. He was a former member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Lansing and Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Clearwater.
Surviving are: nephew, Harry (Denise) Funtukis of Grand Ledge; nieces, Stephanie Perentesis of East Lansing, Renee Perentesis of Clearwater, and Stacy (Tony) Worthington of Grand Ledge. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Louis Funtukis; sister, Helen Funtukis Perentesis; sister-in-law, Kay Funtukis; and niece, Stefani DeJong.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 29, 2011, at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 1701 E. Saginaw St., Lansing, with Fr. Mark Sietsema officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Grand Ledge. The family will receive friends at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel from 6-8 p.m. Friday, with the Trisagion service to be held at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Lansing, or to Suncoast Hospice Foundation, 5771 Roosevelt Blvd, Clearwater, FL 33760-9962, in memory of Alex Funtukis.
