Alene taught me so much when she took me under her tutelage to be an altar guild member at St Andrew’s. Her friendship meant a great deal to me. I especially loved her stories about growing up in Lansing and the friendly rivalry she had with my mom about what store was better, Arbaugh’s or Knapp’s.
