Albert E. “Ted” Powis, Jr.
Ted was born November 10, 1926 and died June 16, 2013. He was currently of Haslett, MI. He is survived by his wife Vivian Powis, 4 children, 8 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
He was a career military man. He was an expert marksman and a dedicated firearms instructor. Colonel Powis was Chief of Staff for the Michigan Army National Guard when he retired. Thereafter he operated a charter boat out of Manistee harbor with his 1st Mate, Vivian, and served as Secretary for the Michigan Charter Boat Association. He recently had been an active member of the American Legion Post 269 in Haslett, MI.
The funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, June 21, 2013, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with burial thereafter at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Lansing, MI. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday and 1 hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers please send donations to: Heartland Hospice Care, 865 S. Ted had a way with words. I showed up at a match with side burns down to my butt. Need less to say, they were promptly trimmed.
