Michael L. Anglebrandt

Lansing, Michigan

Born December 26, 1947, in Port Huron, Michigan, son of the late Kenneth and Ruth (Riehl) Anglebrandt passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 7, 2024, at the age of 76.  Surviving are his wife, Marilu Anglebrandt; 2 sons, Scott and Todd; 3 grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Nancy Wardwell and Judy Ostrander along with many cousins, other extended family members, and countless lifelong friends.

Michael graduated from Port Huron Northern High School and went to receive his bachelor’s degree from LSSU and master’s degree from WMU.  He first worked as a Sanitarian for the St. Clair County Health Department.  He then went to work for the State of Michigan, Department of Natural Resources, as an Environmental Quality Analyst before being promoted to Environmental Quality Specialist for the State of Michigan, Department of Transportation, retiring in 2015.

Michael loved hunting and fishing (especially with family); boating and pulling Marilu on water skis; raising and training Shelties, alongside his wife, and traveling to compete in agility competitions, having won many championships and titles; playing Euchre; lunches and movies with Marilu and her sister Nancy, but most importantly he cherished spending time with his grandson Eli, passing on wisdom and stories that can be passed down to the next generation of Anglebrandts.  Michael was an amazing man who knew the importance of close friendships, a good campfire, and funny stories to be shared.

Per his wish, cremation will take place and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

Those who wish may make memorial contributions, in memory of Michael, to the Detroit Children’s Hospital of Michigan or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Arrangements are by the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel.

Mike knew the value of friendship, was loyal to his friends, and clung to his principles. Godspeed Mike, if there is fishing in heaven, please save a few for me, Pat

Dear Marilu, Todd and Eli. Your Husband, Father and Grandfather have had so many adventures together. From Fishing Walleyes, Bear hunting in Ontario, and collecting a few deer in Menomonee. Mike has added value to my life through his hard work and dedication. He always had a way of finding a middle ground and was very good at getting things done. Mike loved you Marilu. He always spoke about you with the kindest of words. Mike has a great moral compass. The world is a much better place having him in it. I have no doubt he continues to watch over you until it’s time to join him. Until then, keep doing what you do best. Sincerely, Brian
