Madeleine Cooke Linn

Lansing, MI

Madeleine Cooke Linn (née Poxson), affectionately known as Mimi to her family and friends, died on August 2, 2018, surrounded by family. She was born in Flint, MI, on April 14, 1942.

She was smart, funny, fiercely independent, loyal and loving. Most of all she loved her family, her dogs, books, and gardening.  However her heart belonged at Burt Lake.

She taught for the Lansing School District for 20 years, and she shared her love of Literature, which was her joy and refuge.

Strong willed to the end, she never minced words and wasn’t afraid to voice her opinions. Mimi was our rock and we will miss her dearly.

She is survived by her daughter, Catherine Linn “Katy” (Craig Owens); her son, Gary Linn Jr.; brothers, David Poxson (Connie) and Tim Poxson (Sue); sisters, Lucy Peck and Christiane Manzella; her grandchildren, Nell Owens and Charlie Owens; her nieces, Madeleine Wagner and Katy Pereida; her nephews, Elijah Peck, David J Poxson, and Matthew Poxson; great-nephews, Jack and Max Pereida; and her faithful companion, Molly.

She was preceded in death by her beloved father, David Makepeace Poxson, her mother Christiane Eschbach Poxson, and her cherished niece Kimmy Poxson.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 6, 2018, at Mount Hope Cemetery, Lansing. Memorial contributions may be made to the Capital Area Humane Society or to Lansing Promise. Arrangements are by the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.

I enjoyed picking her up for our monthly get togethers. Nice, fun lady.
