Joann Rogers

Date of Birth: April 13, 1934 in Traverse City, Michigan

Date of Death: July 22, 2024 in Holt, Michigan

Joann M. Rogers was a confident, successful and prosperous woman who had a loving marriage with her husband William. After he unexpectedly passed away, she shifted gears to become an entrepreneur, small business owner and real estate investor.

Joann respected knowledge and encouraged her children to pursue higher education. Blessed with a keen sense of adventure, she obtained a pilot license, returned to school as an adult and completed her BA in Social Work from Michigan State University, and traveled around the world. Joann was curious about history and eager to engage in discussions about politics and current events. At the time of her passing, she was pursuing her goal of reading the great works of literature.

Her many offspring cherished her as a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Joann’s arms always opened wide to welcome friends and family into her heart. Her non-judgmental love, compassion, empathy and sense of humor will be missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband William P. Rogers, mother Sarah (Sally) McGarry Donahue, father Ernest McGarry, and sisters Noreen Taft and Susan McGarry, and daughter-in-law Jennifer Rogers (Michael).

She is survived by brother Mike McGarry (Yvonne), brother Steve McGarry (Kathy), and sisters Sandra McGarry and Rebecca Ernst (Dale); children Michael Rogers (Leslie Black), David Rogers (Beth), Melissa Dawdy (Rick), Jane Rogers-Snodgrass (Richard), Peter Rogers (Sheri), and Sarah White (Joe); grandchildren Vanessa Sayres (Rory), Brandon Rogers (Rachel Jensen), Dan Rogers, Becca Reigler (Aidan), Alexis Wright (Dustin), Eric Dawdy (Emily), Steven Dawdy (Incia), Alicia Dawdy, William Snodgrass (Mandy), David Snodgrass (Margo), Sara Snodgrass (Andrew), Garrett Rogers (Jen), Mackenzie Rogers, Hayley Rogers, William White (Kate), and Emily White (Jase); and great-grandchildren Sebastian, Eleanor, Soren, Sigrid, Charlotte, Sylvia, Linden, Julian, Calvin, Ethan, Luke, Gemma, Sophie, Avery, Wesley, Hunter and Noah.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 26, 2024, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with interment to  follow in Maple Ridge Cemetery in Holt.  A closed casket visitation will be at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00  p.m. on Thursday.
