Steve M. Warfield

Steve Warfield, 64, of Holt entered eternal life on Sunday, October 25 after a brief illness, surrounded by his family.

Steve was born on October 26, 1961, to Jack and Alice (Tenhopen) Warfield in South Haven, Michigan where he grew up and graduated from South Haven High School. He was a record setting swimmer and football player. Steve loved everything that had two wheels and took great joy in frequent trips to Silver Lake Sand Dunes with friends climbing and racing.

Steve’s sister, Kathy, married Erik Bergh, and when he visited their newborn daughter Lauren for the first time, Erik’s sister, DiAnne, was there as well. They fell in love and married on July 6, 1991 in Holt, Michigan. They lived and started their family in Grand Haven. Daughter Anna was born in 1993, and later that year the family moved to Holt. They were joined by Paul and Sam in 1996 and Phoebe in 2002.

Steve was a people person. He was a great friend, son, brother, and uncle. He related easily to people of all ages and was quick to help people and be a sounding board. He loved being a part of his cycling club (Brothers of the Hammer), playing on the Holt UMC Softball team for many years, being a prolific blood donor, and taking part in fundraising for men’s health. He was also active with the Delhi Township Parks Commission. Steve was employed with Pratt Whitney for the past eleven years and previously owned Lansing Cycle.

He is survived by his wife, DiAnne, children Anna, Paul, Sam, and Phoebe, mother Alice Warfield of South Haven, sister Kathy (Erik) Bergh of St. Joseph, nephews Christopher (Marisa) Bergh of Kalamazoo, Mark Bergh of St. Joseph and niece Lauren of Lansing, sister in law Dani Gimm-Bergh and nieces Adrian, Jessie and nephew Uriah, great nieces Spencer and Ellison, along with Aunt Helen Hanes and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Jack, paternal grandparents Donald Warfield and Wanda Warfield, maternal grandparents Rev. Lawrence and Mildred Tenhopen, aunts Carol Plank and Laura Bussey, uncle Ron Bussey, in law Beckett Gimm-Bergh, and dear friend Denis Robertson.

There will be a memorial service held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 21, 2026, with a luncheon to follow, at the Holt United Methodist Church, 2321 N. Aurelius Rd., Holt, MI 48842. Steve’s family has requested memorials be directed to the American Red Cross or the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride for men’s health.

Incredible swimmer (I had the privilege of coaching his team) he was a leader. He was a captain, qualified state. Above that he was a friend to all,.very outgoing. I followed his life via pictures and articles about his rides, friends, and outdoor excursions. Most of all, he was a very loving husband and father
He will be sorely missed by so many.
Rest in Peace, Steve.
