Caroline (McManus) Kosloski
Caroline (McManus) Kosloski, age 92, of Holt, MI, passed away peacefully on October 7th in the presence of family.
Born on October 27, 1933, to parents Howard and Josephine McManus, Caroline was the third of their four children. Though she was born in Holt, Caroline’s home for most of her childhood was Shaftsburg, MI. After graduating from Perry High School in 1951, she moved to Lansing where she worked a series of jobs including
stints as a seamstress for Fisher Body, a photographer for Versluis Studios and as a nanny for the owners of Dines Restaurant. In 1956 she met Leo, the love of her life, and they were married in June of 1957. Thus began their almost 62-year love affair which produced three sons (Dave in 1958, Todd in 1960 and Kurt in 1963). Sadly, the devastating loss of their youngest son, Kurt, in 2009 was a pain they would suffer for the rest of their days.
One of the things Caroline will be remembered for most was using her gifts to serve her large extended family. For over 40 years she hand-made a pinata for each annual Kosloski family Christmas party, never duplicating a single theme. She also baked and decorated cakes for almost every occasion imaginable. With Leo, Caroline also enjoyed hosting large family gatherings at their lake house in Mecosta, MI for the majority of their 36 years there. In 2017 they made the decision to move to Holt, her birthplace, to be closer to family and friends. In her later years she truly loved visiting with family, friends and neighbors often regaling them with stories of her childhood and varied adventures. She leaves a great void in all of our lives.
Caroline is survived by sons Dave and Todd (Florence); grandchildren Kody (Eden), Karlee, Josh (Meredith) and Trevor; great-grandchildren Leif, Lorelei, Liam, Jacob and Leo; numerous nieces and nephews; countless friends; and her beloved canine companion, Bugsy. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Leo, son Kurt, sisters Delores and Donna and brother Howard, Jr.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at the First Presbyterian Church of Holt with the Rev. Kirk R. Miller officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday at the church for one hour prior to the memorial. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Holt. Arrangements are by the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel.
