In many ways, Mr. Kessler was responsible for my adult path. lWhen I was a junior, he asked me, in front of the class, what my plans were for after high school. As someone who had never had any family member attend college, I honestly had no idea what I was going to do. Mr. Kressler was APALLED- asking me if I wanted my default to be barefoot and pregnant. I was SO insulted- but he had an important point. He told me to stay after class, and then told me he needed my mom to come in and meet with him. He was so amazing with my mom- he convinced her (and me) of my potential, and 5 years later I was a college graduate. I went on to earn my Masters and have a fulfilling career – and I often think back to the fact that Peter Kressler cared enough to push me and my parents to pursue the first bachelor’s degree in my family. I owe a debt of gratitude that can never truly be repaid. Much love and condolences to his family and to Anne who was equally amazing.

Before a history test, I remember him saying “we are all Americans in here, so I don’t want any Roman eyes” as a deterrent to cheating. Great teacher!

He was such an amazing teacher who made a huge impact on so many students. RIP Mr Kressler. 30 years later and I still remember you and your honors history class, it was both challenging and rewarding.
