Willis J. Rockwood

Age 103 of Holt, MI passed away on September 20, 2026, in Lansing. He was born August 26, 1923, in Long Rapids, MI to the late Willis and Agnes Rockwood.

Willis was raised in the Alpena area, moving to Detroit as a young man where he started out as a tool and die maker until he was drafted into the U.S. Army during WWII. While proudly serving in the U.S. Army he held the rank of Staff Sergeant (E6). After honorably serving his country Willis returned to the states and relocated to the Holt area. In Holt he started his business Rockwood and Sons Builders as a residential architect and builder. He was united in marriage to Marion Elizabeth Storing on August 27, 1949, it was in Holt where he and Marion started and raised their family. In his free time, he was an avid woodworker and a talented wood carver. He also enjoyed bowling on a league team for Valley Farms Lumber team. Willis was also an amateur and adventurous pilot.

Willis survives his children: Nelson Rockwood, Craig (Elsa) Rockwood, and Diane Allison; grandchildren: Shawn (Iveet) Allison, William Allison, and Sarah Adams; great-grandchildren: Cayden Adams, Rowan Adams, Emory Adams, and Ian Pizarro, as well as nieces, nephews, and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife of 65 years Marion Rockwood, three sisters, and three brothers.

There will be no public services. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Buck-Reasoner American Legion Post 238 in Holt. Arrangements are by the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel.
