Lansing, Michigan.  Gary R. Powers joined his Jewish carpenter friend, Jesus, on August 29, 2012. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on June 18th, 1935 to Harry E. and Margaret (Ward) Powers.

Gary graduated from Lansing Eastern High School in 1954. He joined the Lansing Fire Department in 1962 and later earned his Associates Degree in Fire Science from Lansing Community College. During his retirement, he traveled to several countries and throughout the United States, most recently wintering in Mesa, Arizona where he and Donna attended Velda Rose United Methodist Church.

He is known by those close to him as a prayer warrior and gave peace to many, as they knew they were in his daily prayers. His ministry also included calling those he prayed for, and checking in with them, a true showing of God’s love in his life.
