Loving husband, father and grandfather, age 76, passed away June 29, 2012, after a long, courageous battle with cancer.  He was known as “P.H.” by his firefighter cohorts, retiring from the Lansing Fire Department after 27 years.  Gary was a proud member of AA, and he enjoyed working on his lawn and flowers.  Surviving are:  his wife, Patricia Ann; daughters, Kathryn (Chris) Couthen, Cynthia (Joe) Hurst; Melissa Thomas; son, Mark (Marcie) Thomas; and 14 grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Doris Brodberg and his parents, Carroll and Amelia Thomas.  A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 9, 2012, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
