Edward Ernest Shelkey

   Born October 18, 1926 in Muskegon, Michigan son of the late Ernest and Magdalena Shelkey went to be with his Lord on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at the age of 84. 

   Edward served in the U.S. Army during the end of WWII and during the Korean Conflict where he was injured during battle. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and was a long-time devoted member of St. Mary Cathedral in Lansing. 

   Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Fr. Bernard Reilly at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 18, 2011 at St. Mary Cathedral, 219 N. Seymour, Lansing.  Interment will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan.  The Rosary will be prayed for Mr. Shelkey at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel on Sunday, April 17th at 7:30 p.m.  His body will lie-in-state at the Cathedral on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until service time. Memorial contributions in Edward’s memory may be made to St. Mary Cathedral.
