Age 56, of Holt, MI, died February 19th, 2016. He was born to the late Clayton C. and Barbara M. Curnow on September 20, 1959, in Kalamazoo, MI. He graduated from Holt High School in 1977 and went on to work at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island where he met his wife, Lisabeth A. Beiler. They married in 1987 and lived in Lansing, MI; Elkhart, IN; and Coloma, MI, before settling into Holt, MI, 23 years ago.

Daniel loved sitting on the porch to watch storms roll in, backyard bonfires with friends and family, his garage, and auto-racing. Going to the Michigan International Speedway to see IndyCar and NASCAR racing were some of his most treasured experiences. He worked for the Capital Area Transportation Authority for many years, receiving numerous safe driving awards.

He leaves behind his son, Benjamin R. Curnow of Holt (and his mother Lisabeth Curnow); mother, Barbara (Jaehnig) Curnow of Holt; sister, Marjorie (Curnow) Davis of Williamston (and her husband Rafael Davis); devoted feline, Spooky; friend, Jane Sweitzer-Hauff; and many other friends and family who loved him.

At the family’s request, no services will be held. Arrangements are by the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. Online condolences may be left for his family at

My prayers and condolences for family and friends. I only knew Dan casually at Holt High School. We shared some lunch time together, but few classes.
