Allan K. Orler

Age 87, of Holt, MI, formerly of San Francisco, CA, passed away December 17, 2014.  He was born in Vulcan, MI on July 14, 1927 to Leon and Violet (Tarr) Orler and had lived in Lansing from 1929 to 1959 before he moved to San Francisco.

He attended Michigan State University, graduating from the University of Miami.  He earned his master’s degree and his doctorate from the University of San Francisco.  He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Navy.  Allan worked as an accountant for Standard Oil of California, and later as a Professor of Computer Science and Business at City College of San Francisco and the University of San Francisco, retiring in 1991.  He was a hospice volunteer and member of several professional organizations.

Allan was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers Glenn and Dale.  Surviving are nieces and nephews, Jeff (Paula) Orler, Janet (Greg) Williams, Julie Orler, Steve (Lori) Orler, Nancy Russell Orler, Glenda (Jon) Trachte and several great-nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Liturgy will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, December 22, 2014, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with Fr. Bill Lugger officiating. The Rite of Christian Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice.
