William H. Schwan

Bill was born March 9, 1928 in Detroit to Hugo and Marguerite Schwan, and passed away on February 13, 2013 at the age of 84. He was of Lansing, MI.

Bill served in the United States Army during WWII in the 82^nd Airborne Division and was a member of the Michigan Naval Commanders Club.  He was a member of the IBEW, local 58, as a journeyman electrician.  Bill was also a lifetime member of the Lansing Liederkranz Club.  He attended college at Michigan Technological University, received his B.S. degree at Babson College, and graduated from Wayne State University Law School in 1958.  He was a member of the State Bar of Michigan and served as an Assistant Attorney General for Michigan for 30 years. Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend.  Bill was active in his church and enjoyed playing tennis, bridge, golf, dancing, hunting, and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Josephine Schwan and his children James (Joy) Schwan, Gina Johnsen, and Linda (Robert) Dearman; grandchildren, Timothy, Christopher and Abigail Schwan, Kristina Johnsen, Katherine, Allison, Emily and Isabella Dearman; niece, Carri (John) Perry; and great-nephews, Connor and Joseph Perry.  He was predeceased by his sister Jean E. Schwan.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 17, 2013, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 501 W. Saginaw, in Lansing, with Pastor G. Travis Downs officiating. The Family will receive visitors Saturday, February 16^th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, 325 W. Washtenaw St. in Lansing and one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the church.  Interment services with military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 18 at Hillside Cemetery, Delta Township. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
