Ronald B. Blanchard

Our loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle, left his earthly body at 11:38 p.m. May 28, 2013. He was currently of Delta Township, MI.

Ron was born December 10, 1922 to Blanche (Swan) and Roy Blanchard in Williamston, MI.  Ron, and his twin brother Don, moved to Lansing with their parents when they were four.  He graduated from Eastern High School in 1941.  After serving his country for three years in the Army Air Corps he earned a Bachelor’s Degree at MSU.

Ron was employed by Fisher Body where he served 30 years at the General Motors Tech Center in Warren, MI as supervisor of the Industrial Engineering Dept.  He, with his wife Jane Ann and two daughters, Linda and Laurie, resided in Birmingham, MI until his retirement at which time he returned to his beloved Lansing.  Ron loved life and all that it had to offer.  He was active in many organizations.  The Birmingham Men’s Club, Camera Club of Birmingham, the Elks Club, Stamp Club of Lansing, the Lansing area computer club, Men’s bridge club, and Men’s Club of Pilgrim Church.  Ron was all about serving God and Country.  He loved his church, Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ, and was actively involved until his death.  He also loved golf, cards, and time with family and friends.

He leaves behind his spouse of 65 years, Jane Ann Converse Blanchard; daughters, Linda (Dave) Gooley, Laurie (Carl) Patterson; three grandsons, Jason (Sara) Gooley, Seth Gooley, Joshua Gooley; great-granddaughter, Madeline Gooley; Josh’s fiancée, Daniell and her son Hayden; twin brother, Donald (Chloe) Blanchard; nephew, Jim (Dee) Blanchard; niece, Carolyn King; and special friend, Mary Lou Prevost.

The family will receive friends at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday.  The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 31, 2013 at Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ, 125 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Lansing with The Rev. Peter N. Robinson officiating.  Interment will take place at the Summit Cemetery, Williamston, MI.  Memorial contributions may be made to his Church.
