Lana and family,
Kelli and I are deeply saddened for the loss of Columbo, he was a good man, father and friend to the Garlands and there are no words can truly reflect our sorrow for his passing… You know that he is in good company, and is surely have a toddie (or two) with friends and family that have preceded him. One day, we will all be together again, riding bikes and having the time of our lives! I hope that you all find some comfort knowing that he is in good company!!!
With love and prayers,
Mike and Kelli

To Bob’s family, please accept my sympathy for your great loss. I worked with Bob in both Battle Creek and Lansing. Bob was a great person, also a great telephone man, one of the best. May God bless all of your family.

The first time that I met Bob (and Lana) is when I purchased their home on Aurelius Rd. in Holt, back in April of 2012.

Such a sweet couple and Bob was so kind and helpful answering all of my questions about the home. Especially when it was time for me to open and close the pool for my first time.

He was so sweet to come over and helped me from beginning to end …
“This might not be the way other people do it, but it is the way I do it … ” he would tell me with each step. I listened closely to his every word and took notes. I still have that notebook and have referred it each time that I open and close my pool. Scribbled across the top, it says
” BOB’s WAY”.

The best thing about owning that home, is that no matter who I talk to about “where” I live, EVERYBODY knows Bob and / or Lana or SOMEONE that lived / grew up in that house. Then they would almost always follow up with a “pool” story. It seems that the Lanes maintained a home that created many memories for many to cherish.

People have asked me, “why do you still have that big ” L ” on your garage?” I have replied each time, “To honor the LANES, the home, and all of the memories that came with it”.

It remains there today and always will until I no longer own my home … RIP Bob, you will be missed by many.
