Robert L. "Bob" Bauer

Age 84, of Lansing, MI, passed away, April 13, 2013 in Okemos, Michigan. He was born January 27, 1929 in Lansing to Leo and Rose Bauer.

Bob was a Veteran of the U.S. Army; was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Fraternal Order of Moose and Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was an avid auto-racing fan. He was very proud of his 40-plus years of service at Olofsson’s, retiring at age 63. Bob was known by many as a perfectionist, both at home and at work as a Journeyman Machinist.

He is surived by his wife of thirteen years: Barb Bauer; children: Leslie (Ron) Baril, Bob (Chris) Bauer, Linda (Dan) Frayre, Kathy (Vern Sillman) Forquer, Mark Bauer, and John Bauer; stepchildren: Dale Ketchum and Debbie Richards; seven grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; twenty step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Doris (Jim) Crowley; sisters and brothers-in-law: Virginia Bauer, Edwina (Frank) Burgess, Howard (Elsie) Hostetler, and Jim (Jerilee) Hostetler; also many nieces nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Lila Bauer; stepchildren: Kenny Ketchum and Karen Cobb; and siblings: Vernon Bauer and Arlene Hamilton.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated for Bob Bauer, 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. John Byers and Rev. Fr. Frederick Thelen as celebrants, interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, with the Rosary to be prayed at 7:30p.m. at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Leukemia Foundation.

Friend and fellow Olofsson employee since 1939 and we worked side by side for many years and also shared our wedding date August 1. 1942. He will be dearly missed by all.

To Bob’s family I send my condolences to you. I always
enjoyed talking to him usually at Spartan Speedway or when
he’d stop at my shop. We’ve lost another interesting person.

Bauer Family: I am sorry to hear of your loss of Bob. I knew him from the Lansing Moose Lodge. He was a great person. My heartfelt sympathy to all of the family members, Barb, Bob, John and Kathy and family
