Robert K. "Bob" Brenke

Robert K. Brenke, 87, of Lansing, MI died peacefully March 20, 2014 and is now in the loving arms of his Savior Jesus.  He was born August 21, 1926 in Lansing, MI to Julius A. “Joe” and Mary Ann Brenke.

Robert was in the first graduating class from Sexton High School.  He started his career at a young age as a grocer working for his father and later owned his own grocery store.  He joined the Navy during World War II.  After retirement he volunteered at Ingham Medical (McLaren) Hospital for 25 years.  He was an enthusiastic fisherman, Spartan fan and became an avid golfer.  He played a mean game of euchre, was a history buff and loved to read.  He grew up in the Lutheran faith and was a long-time active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was currently a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church both in Lansing, MI.  Robert was a loving husband and father, valuing faith and family above all.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Esther P. (Czich).  He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Mary C. (Ballmer); daughters, Jo Ellen Miskowski of Mason, MI and Nancy A. Farrar of Redmond, WA; grandson, Matthew D. Farrar; granddaughter, Christine N. Miskowski; sons, Dan (Sandy) Ballmer of Holt, MI, Tom (Sally) Ballmer of Mason City, IA, Tim (Tonya) Ballmer of DeBary, FL; and many nephews, nieces, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He will always remain in our hearts with his warm smile, dry sense of humor, and the twinkle in his eyes.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 23 from 2-5 p.m. at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church.  Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 24 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with the Rev. James A. Lichtenberg and the Rev. Matthew A. Smith co-officiating.  Memorial contributions may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

Bob will be missed by all who had the chance to spend time with him. We will remember the times on the golf course with Bob and Mary. He probably has a tee time reserved for all of his golfing friends.
