Robert J. Hornus

Born September 10, 1940 in St. Joseph, Michigan son of the late Harold and Margery (Lemm) Hornus, passed away Friday, January 20, 2012 in Lansing at age 71.

Robert served in the U.S. Navy, was a retired General Motors employee, and was an avid bowler.

Surviving are his two children, James Hornus and Melissa (Todd) Belen; two grandsons, Dakota and Dalton Belen; sister-in-law, Margo Hornus; special cousin, Dori Lou along with several nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Mary H. Hornus and his brother, Douglas Hornus.

Funeral services will be held at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at 12:00 p.m.  Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Robert’s memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Bob was such a special part of our growing up on Edward Street, we will cherish the wonderful memories forever. Jim and Missy you are in out thoughts and prayers. The Sever Kids (Sherry, Bob and Kelly).

I will never forget the great big bear hugs Mr. Hornus would give. They always made me feel special and loved. He always took the time to ask how you were doing and really listened to you. My deepest sympathies to the family. Bonnie (Bublitz) Zimmerman.
