Richard was a long time dental patient and friend. He was always conversant on many topics. He was always on the go. He traveled 10,000 miles this last fall by car to see the away matches of the MSU Volleyball Team following them in a blizzard to the NCAA Tournament. He was very active in a model airplane club for years. He was a regular customer at Leo’s Brunch House and after hours in a men’s group. He was always teaching me things about life and how to live life to the fullest. He was a thoughtful person who would bring flowers to the office and MSU Chocolate toffee and well as homemade peach pies, and other goodies. He was a great at making me feel good about myself. Of course the feeling was mutual. I will never forget the dash. The dash is the the hyphen between your birth date and your date of death. It is how we use the time in between. Richard will be remembered and missed by all who knew him. He was always learning and told me the last time I saw him, even ,how the tumor started, a virus. My sincere condolences to his dear family whom he shared stories about. He cared very much for you all.

I’m so sorry to hear the news. Dick was a good friend of my Dad’s (Jack Rathbun) and a wonderful person. He went with us to a family reunion in Rhode Island many years ago. We had a great time. Sometimes he would stop in at the agency, it was always a treat to see him. We will all miss him. Our condolences to his wonderful family.

Amy, Missy, and Jennifer,
I’m sorry to hear of your loss. I always thought your Dad was great. He would always sing All Day All Night, Mary Ann when I came over to your house. He was a wonderful man.

I am glad Dick was able to attend on Saturday the 65th JHS reunion last
year. He worked countless hours locating JHS classmates and recording
them. I talked to him this Christmastime about this “Labor of Love”. We
remember also fondly his two sisters at JHS with impaired vision. Sincere
sympathy to his daughters and grandchildren.
