R. Arden Moon

Lansing, Michigan.

Age 78, passed away January 1, 2015. He was born August 23, 1936, in Burr Oak, Kansas, the son of the late Ralph and Clara Moon.

Arden completed his undergraduate degree at Ft. Hays in Kansas and his graduate degree from the University of Kansas at Lawrence. He was a Mott fellow at Michigan State University, where he received his Ph.D. He was a professor of teacher education at MSU for 30 years. On March 29, 1986, he married Kathleen Soper.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen; daughter, Trudy (Glen) Meinecke; son, Lamont (Carol) Moon; stepson, David Hatch; grandchildren, Kaylan, Alexandria, Austen and Evan; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at the First Free Methodist Church of Saginaw. Interment will take place in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Saginaw. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday beginning at 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Michigan Parkinson’s Foundation, Heifer International or a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are by the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.

Dear Kathy and family,
Arden was a kind man. I have many wonderful memories from working with him in the Department of Teacher Education. My prayers and thoughts are with you all.

Dear Kathy and Family, I’ll always remember all the fun times we had together. The name of Arden Moon will always be in the Meinecke Memory Book.
