Robi and Randy,
Your mother was a very special person. Frank and I feel fortunate to have had Nell in our lives as a dear friend since she cared for our daughter 35 years ago. Kindness, thoughtfulness and humor are what come to mind, when I think of Nell. I will miss her.
My thoughts are with you,
Beth

Robi and Randy–

Our family has enjoyed many years of friendship with your mother, beginning as neighbors on Sandhill Rd. She made the best Halloween cookies for the neighborhood children, and kept a close eye on all of us while we waited for the school bus. We were fortunate to know her and we will miss her.

Your mom was one of the most significant people in the lives of Lindsay and Hilary; she loved them and provided the best care a working mom could ever ask for.
I remember when she would rock Lindsay for her entire nap when ear infections made it too painful for our sweet girl to lie down.
I remember when I was on disability for 6 months during my pregnancy with Hilary….Nell provided dinner 2-3 times most every week.
I remember pictures of the girls dressed as Mary, Joseph, or Baby Jesus.
We treasure birthday celebrations and Gunn Lake adventures. Bob and Nell are woven into the fabric of our lives.
Nell always saw the best in each of us. She was an encourager and cheerleader. We all knew she would defend us to the end.
When Lindsay turned 16, Nell gave her a guardian angel for the visor of her car. Not long after, Nell gave me one for Hilary as well, “just in case, she wasn’t able to give Hilary hers when she turned 16”.
When Hilary and Norman married last June, Nell was not healthy enough to attend. We still have the silk flower corsage in the box with ‘Grandma’ written on the top…..I’ll bring that to Nell on Thursday.

Robi and Randy….thank you for sharing your mom with us!

Randy and Robi, your mother enjoyed a long, happy, and fulfilling life.
She is with your father now.
One only needs to know either of you to know the quality of character she possessed. she was a special person and will be missed.

Robi and Randy,
We just heard of your mother’s passing and wanted to let you know that you are in our thoughts and prayers as you cope with her absence. Your mom meant so much to all of the Shermans and she holds a special place in our hearts and memories. Tom, Bert and I often recall the amazing summer days spent at the Wolfe’s Gunn Lake cottage and the relaxing pontoon boat rides. She was so good about sending birthday cards to Mae and Molly (every year) and they both looked forward to our annual Christmas stroll up to visit with your mom. She will be sorely missed by all.

Robi & Randy,
Your mother was a delight to know. She was always so caring and supportive. I still use her lasagna recipe! Every time I came back to Michigan I would ask if I could come over. I last saw her in August and we visited for quite awhile. I’ll miss her very much. Coming home will never be the same without our ‘chats’.
Hang on to your memories of one very sweet lady.

My deepest sympathies are with you. I taught at Elliott when Nell was the library clerk then Nell was my daughter’s first daycare provider when she was an infant. She will be missed greatly.

Robi and Randy,
Nell was quite the lady. I think of her big smile and sweet hugs and our many walks in back of the house with the doggys. I’ll miss all of the cards she sent and I still wonder how she keep all the dates straight for so many people. She is back again with Bob and all her sises and Karl and Grad! God Bless.

I have so many fond childhood memories of Bob and Nell; memories that I will forever cherish. I especially remember during this time of year, Bob and Nell would take Lindsay and myself to Christmas at the Zoo at Potter Park. Afterwards we would string popcorn and cranberries while listening to Christmas carols. Their generosity was unending as well as their love. Nell was always giving to Lindsay and myself, treating us as if were were her own grandchildren. I am truly going to miss having this special lady in my life. She was such an important part of me and I will cherish her forever in my heart.

As I sit here and reflect about Nell and her life, it is quite difficult to put into words just how much she and Bob meant to me and my family. There are so many memories of my childhood and adult life that include Bob and Nell. Whether it was going to Potter Park Zoo to look at the Christmas lights or going to Gun Lake to spend time at their cottage, the time together was always filled laughter and love. Even though we did a lot of fun things together, I think the biggest thing Bob and Nell taught me was how to be a caring, generous and all around loving person. This was shown through their continuous example. I know I am the person I am today because of their character. I will miss Nell greatly and I will always consider her as my grandma.

Robi and Randy, I can’t even begin to say what your mom meant to me, Ashley and Allison. She was their third Grandma and along with Bob provided them with love and guidance in the their early years. I will miss visiting her with that special cup of coffee and goodies. I loved visiting at Christmas and trying to count all the Santas that were on display on the round table, always looking for the ones Allison broke. Over the years it was tradition for Allison to replace one! The girls loved to go to Nell’s to help her decorate Christmas cookies. I will miss sharing photos with her of our family trips. She was so eager to see what the Jones’ family was up to. We will miss her. She and Bob are in are hearts forever.

Ted and I have so many beautiful memories of your Mom. She was so kind, warm and thoughtful and I loved laughing with her and your Dad over dinners together and days spent at the cottage at Gun Lake, and the wonderful times at Christmas. She was so good to Ted and that meant the world to all of us. We will miss her. Your Mom and Dad will always be remembered with much love.

Nell was a special lady. She and Bob befriended me when we moved into the house across the street and we remained friends for the next 23 years. She always made me cookies for my birthday and Christmas. I will sorely miss you Nell, but I’m glad you are rejoined with Bob. You were both very special people. Rest in peace my dear friend.
