Michelle Lee (Grant) Dymond

Lansing, Michigan.

May 12, 1950 – November 18, 2016

Michelle was born in Lansing, Michigan, to Russell and Jeanne Grant. She was a lifelong Lansing resident, graduating from Everett High School. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her grandchildren were her greatest passion. She attended all their plays, soccer games, basketball games, and anything else they were involved in and they will greatly miss her presence. Michelle worked as a teacher’s assistant with Head Start for 20 years. She loved spending time with children and cared deeply for her students. Michelle was a lover of gardening and nature- she wanted to be in the dirt and refused to wear gloves when she worked. She was constantly looking for a flowerbed to weed or a plant to deadhead, no matter where she went. She loved animals and fed the birds and hummingbirds, including her favorite chipmunk, creatively named Chippy. The Dymonds are looking forward to seeing the 75 daffodils she planted this fall bloom in the spring, along with the rosebush she insisted we move the rock for. Michelle was dedicated to the American Legion, Post 238, and was a member of the Auxiliary there. She planned several events for children around the holidays, and especially loved riding on the float in the Holt Memorial Day Parade with her grandchildren.

Michelle is survived by her fiancé and partner of 25 years, David Cervantes. She is also survived by her sons, Jason and Kyle (Sarah) Dymond, and her grandchildren, Colleen, Jillian, and Benjamin Dymond; her brother, Michael Grant, and numerous other family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Legion, Buck Reasoner Post 238, for their children’s activities, and to Woldumar Nature Center, where she volunteered for several years when her children were young.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at Delta Presbyterian Church, 6100 W. Michigan Ave., Lansing.  Her family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the memorial service.  A luncheon will follow at the Buck Reasoner Post #238, American Legion.

Thinking of family and friends of Michelle and knowing how much she will be missed. How lucky we are to have known Michelle and her drive for living life and conviction to her beliefs. Many good talks and lots of fun times. In Gods hands and forever in our memory.
