Mary Rose (Serr) Siebold

Siebold, Mary Age 82, of Lansing, Michigan, passed away July 12, 2015. She was born May 23, 1933, in Frankfort, MI, to Ingval and Melba Peterson. A graduate of Michigan State University, Mary Rose worked as a substitute teacher in the Lansing School District and MSU Athletic Department. She was an active member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and the Lansing Junior League. She was also an avid reader and loved to travel.

Mary Rose was preceded in death by her first husband, Gordon H. Serr; and her second husband, Jack H. Siebold. Surviving are: son, Scott (Joann) Serr; daughter, Amy Serr; grandchildren, Allison, Hayley, and Kelly; as well as her cats, Sammy and Sally.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2015, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 218 W. Ottawa St., Lansing. Her family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to her church. What a special friend and neighbor was Mary Rose! She welcomed us to Glencairn in 1969 and remained our loyal friend for over 45 years. Always gracious, supportive and loving. We are so sorry to miss her memorial service as we will be away. Our love and prayers go out to Scott, Amy, and the family she was so very proud of.

I will miss your voice, laughter, and embrace, but always will have our friendship. Your kindness, beauty, and humor will stay in my heart. Thank you for the fun and fellowship, and gratitude lessons along the way. (Thanks for passing along your New Yorker magazines. Yes, I’m still reading them.) Then there are those coffee cups with your lipstick on the rim. So much is meant in all this. In life you astonished my imagination. That you are gone does much the same. I have a few tears, but many smiles, and those will last a long, long while. What better gift can one leave? Much love. Travel well. I’d love to walk with you, talk with you, and hug you just one more time. Perhaps another day, another place.
