Mark S. Hamilton

Holt, Michigan

Mark “the bus driver” Hamilton went to be with Our Lord on August 31, 2015. He was a man of faith, and lived his life as an example. That life was always filled with wisdom, humor, and love. Selflessly, he sacrificed for his family. And, the core of Mark was his faith, which never wavered, but instead radiated from his being.

Mark Stephen Hamilton was born in Lansing on October 14, 1952, to Myrtle “Joyce” Hamilton and Roger Earl Wills. He joined the Marines at 17 and joined (now) C.A.T.A. a year after discharge. In his 40+ years as a driver, he served Ingham County residents with the same love, humor, wisdom and faith he exhibited throughout his life. He shared his faith with his passengers when asked, and through the Bible and radio programs he listened to on his routes. And in 1983, he married the love of his life. He was a wonderful husband, father, and friend who opened his home to many in need of housing.

He was predeceased by his beloved mother, brother Bill, and “Practical Dad” W.C. Stevens. Surviving are his children Ben, Rachel (Josh) Rochman, Moses, Brendan, and Ciaron, 11 grandchildren, his father, sister Terri (Jerry) Baum, his step-father Robert Spear, brothers Rudy, Bob, and Kevin, step-brothers Curt (Anne-Marie), Kim (Pam), and Kevin Stevens, aunt Margaret (Clifford) Elliot, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, and dog, Petey.

Humbly, he requested we not say what a great guy he was.  So, we are all blessed to know him, and he looks forward to all knowing the love of the Lord, Jesus Christ, and hanging out with him in Heaven.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 5, 2015, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 2418 N. Aurelius Rd., Holt. Interment will follow in South Bingham Cemetery in St. Johns. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. and 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, September 4, 2015, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel and beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Donations requested to Pregnancy Choices of Lansing in lieu of flowers.
