Marjorie E. Eddie

Age 88, of Lansing, passed away January 27, 2011. She was born on April 1, 1922 in Ovid, MI the daughter of Orvil and Mabel Rice.

Margie worked many years as a buyer in the jewelry business. She was an active bowler, golfer and enjoyed playing poker. She was known as the “Toy Lady” in the community for the toys she passed out to children at various restaurants.

She was preceded in death by her husband Earl “Spike” Eddie, former captain of the Lansing Police Department, in 1984, and two sisters Mary and Virginia. Margie is survived by her son, Scott (and longtime fiancée JoAnn) Eddie; 4 grandchildren, Brenden Eddie, Amanda Richardson-Eddie, Jim Monaghan and Ashlee Eddie; 1 great-grandson, Braydon Richardson; brother, William Rice; sister, Marianne Bond; and many others loved like family.

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, January 31, 2011 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. Interment will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Children’s Miracle Network.
