I knew Marilyn through her membership in the First Presbyterian Church (Lansing). She was a lovely woman and was greatly admired by many. My sincere condolences to her family.

Very sad to read that my freshman year, American Thought and Language professor Marilyn Culpepper has passed away. I believe above all other teachers I have ever had, she had the greatest influence on my life- She was kind, inspiring, pragmatic, helpful, encouraging, and made you feel you might be the best writer in the whole world. Dr. Culpepper, you made a mark in the world, and you changed the lives of many students, I know, because I was one of them. May God welcome you into paradise, may the angels greet you on your way.

Mrs. Culpepper was my prof for 2 terms of American Thought and Language. She was an excellent professor and had such a charming personality and manner. Always friendly, positive, encouraging, and warm, a true lady, and a lovely person.
