Lois Roberta Deitz

Holt, Michigan

Age 86, died June 19, 2015 at home with family and friends by her side. Born September 26, 1928 in Lansing, Michigan the daughter of Ray J. and Madaliene LaJune (Gilbert) Mears, she was a longtime resident of Holt, Michigan. In the 1940’s she was an avid motorcycle rider where she met the love of her life, Gordon (Si) Leroy Deitz. Lois and Si met in May 1950 and were wed July 22, 1950.

Lois’s children are Diana (Bruce) Rochowiak; Suzette (Dan) Allen; Gordon R. (Peggy) Deitz; Nancy Deitz (Brenda Stoneburner); and Terry L. Deitz. Grandchildren Lisa (Andy) Snyder; Carrie (Brian) Goodman; Julie Rochowiak; Nichole (Chris) Dennis; Stephanie Merrill; Deborah (Brian) Naslund; Darren (Kris) Allen; Mary (Jeff) Ervin; Chad (Mollie) Deitz; Chris (Ann Shelburg) Deitz; Rachelle (David) Hubble; Kristina (Ron) Howard; Mariah Bogard; and William Westley II (Victoria) Deitz. She has 31 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Si, siblings Russell Harr, Bob Mears, Clarence Mears, Arlene VanConant, and Fred Mears; as well as her daughter Suzette and grandchildren Mariah and William.

She had been the Circulation Manager for the Ingham County News and also worked at Fisher Body. Lois loved and was a part of Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, 46ers group, UAW 602 retiree’s bingo, and also enjoyed camping, rummage sales, travel, gardening, NASCAR, and MSU Spartan sports. Most of all, she loved her family and grandkids. A very special thanks is extended to Nancy and Brenda’s friends who took mom in as their friend and gave her much joy in playing Farkle, going to Peanut Lake and other adventures. The family extends great appreciation to Hospice Advantage for their care and support the last four months. Mom looked forward to them coming and they gave her great care. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lois’s name are requested to be given to Hospice Advantage, Lansing, Michigan.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel with Pastor Fred Fritz of University Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Holt. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday beginning at 10:00 a.m. until service time at Noon.

I am so sorry for your loss. I have fond memories of all of you when you visited at Turk Lake, when we were kids. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I was married to Terry. Lois always was very kind and helpful with our girls(Rachelle and Kristina). I will always have a spot in my heart for her and Si. Sorry for the lose to her children. Love and Hugs.

To family and friends of Ms. Lois Dietz, we send you our sympathy and condolences as we keep all of you in our thoughts and prayers! She will be with all of you forever and always through all of the wonderful memories you share with each other and in your hearts and souls! Remember that God to Lois as an angel because He could no longer watch her suffer in pain and agony so now she can at last rest in peace!
