Juanita Mae Roe

Age 96, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2014 in East Lansing. She was born October 30, 1917 in Lansing to the late George and Edith Beers. Juanita found great joy in her family. She was immensely proud of and encouraging to her children and their families. She had an exceptionally positive outlook, taking joy in all that surrounded her. She loved to travel, whether with her family or on her own. Her family and friends will miss her laughter and upbeat attitude.

Juanita is survived by her children: Gary (Jane) Roe, Carolyn (Jim) Roe Irvin, and Stephen (Karen) Roe; grandchildren: David (Kelly) Roe, Timothy (Amanda) Irvin, Christopher (Jessica) Roe, and Brian (Mary Beth Gilbert) Roe; and great-grandchildren: Blake, Harley, and Dawson, Gabriella and Josephine, Kyleigh and Landon. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Blaine L. Roe.

The family would like to extend thanks to: her special friend Don Freeman, the “Lansing Mall Walkers,” the staff of Rule Eye Care, especially Kimberly, The Willows at East Lansing, and Great Lakes Caring Hospice for their devotion and kindness.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. Visitation will be held from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Great Lakes Hospice Foundation.

We are already missing Juanita. She was so much fun and made us all laugh at the birthday get-togethers at the mall. I didn’t know her as long as the other walkers, but she always had a smile on her face. We should all be so joyous in our nature.
