Jonathan D. Farley

Jonathan died April 17, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family after a valiant battle with cancer. Jon was born in Detroit, Michigan on March 9, 1973, the son of Denny Farley and Sandra Schomer. He graduated from John Glenn High School in 1991 and was educated at Michigan State University. He served honorably in the United State Naval Reserves. He was currently of Fowlerville, Michgan.

Jon worked for many years as an advisor and valuable consultant to the Michigan Legislature. He was Chief of Staff for State Senator David Robertson, with whom he was a close friend and confidante. Jon was known for his keen political savvy and quick wit.  He was well read and particularly enjoyed military history.  Jon was an aficionado of Theodore Roosevelt and had a reputation for having vast knowledge about TR.

Jon married his loving wife Erika on May 3, 2008, who survives him. Jon is also survived by his children Theodore and Amelia with whom he had a strong and loving relationship. Further survivors include his mother, Sandra Schomer, brother Clint Farley (Jennifer), Tabitha Bucknam, mother of Theodore and Amelia, nieces Gabrielle, Nicole and Madison. He was preceded in death by his father Denny Farley and stepfather Ron Schomer.

The family wishes to give special thanks to the doctors and staff at the University of Michigan Oncology Center.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, 325 West Washtenaw Street, Lansing, MI. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Fowlerville, MI. Visitation will be held Monday, April 22, 2013 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions are made to the Farley Family Fund c/o Erika Farley at Lake Trust Credit Union, 501 S. Capitol Ave., Lansing, MI 48933.

Dear Farley Family,
Please accept my sincere condolences at the loss of Jon. At such an emotionally difficult time may the “Hearer of prayer” Jehovah God supply your hearts with the strength and comfort you need to heal and to face tha future with courage. (Psalm 65:2)
