John Michael "Gus" Green

Age 66, passed away July 28, 2012.  He was born March 1, 1946, in Lansing, to Paul and Lottie Green, who preceded him in death.  Mike was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Army.  He was a master electrician at IBEW, retiring in 2003.  Mike enjoyed playing golf and spending time at Lincoln Lake and in Florida.

Surviving are:  his wife of 38 years, Coleen; daughters, Katie and Meghan Green, both of Lansing; brother, Joseph (Sheila) Green of Portage; sister, Sarah (Robert) Miller of Lansing; several nieces and nephews and many friends.

The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 1, 2012, at St. Gerard Catholic Church, 4437 W. Willow, Lansing, with The Rev. Fr. John Klein and The Rev. Fr. Lawrence P. Delaney as celebrants.  The Rite of Committal will follow in Hillside Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or Great Lakes Hospice in memory of John Michael Green.

So sorry for your loss. Gus and I went through AIT at Fort Sill Ok. in 1966. We served in the same unit in South Vietnam 66 and 67. I haven’t talked to Gus in some years. I always knew Gus to be a fun loving and dedicated man.

Uncle Mike you where fun loving unconditional man. Mike you brought laughter to everyone around you and loved your family so much. One of the first memories of you was when you had taken coleen and me to the circus and had the light guys shine the spotlighted on us when it was pitch black. Mike we will miss you dearly and though your not here in the physical your memories and spirit will be with us forever. I love you Uncle Mike and I’m glad your pain is gone now watch over us and make us strong until we see you again. Your nephew Timmy.

Sincere condolences to the family. I worked with “Mike” on several jobs. It was always a pleasure and a lot of fun. I know he’ll be missed.
