John S. Anthony
Age 92, of Holt, MI, passed away November 12, 2014. He was born September 27, 1922, in Flint, Michigan to Joseph and Geraldine (Rae) Anthony.
John served in the U.S. Army during WWII, owned and operated Jon Anthony Florist; was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Holt; formerly served as president of the Holt Kiwanis Club; and was the former president of the Eastside Commercial Club.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Harriet; daughters, Patricia (Douglas) Holliday, Sandra (Brian) Lundy; son, Rick (Carole) Anthony; daughter, Pamela (Gary) Sage; grandchildren, Roy (Debbie), Jon Todd (Tanya), Kimberly (Ray), Jeffrey, Peter (Cheryl), Paul (Pamela), Robert (Joelle), Rick Jr., Ryan (Angela), Randi Kay, Charles (Laura), Jon M. Jr., Autumn (Ben); great-grandchildren, Doug, Rochelle, Kayla (Brandon), Ashley (Ben), Mallory, Blake, Hailey, Elise, Jacob, Levi, Camryn, Vincent, Andrew, Tao; and great-great-grandchildren, Brandon, Brody, Brock and Braxton. He was preceded in death by son, Jon M. Anthony; grandson, Abraham Anthony; and brother, Gordon Anthony.
A service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, November 16, 2014, at the First Presbyterian Church of Holt, 2021 Aurelius Road, Holt, MI 48842 with the Rev. Kirk R. Miller officiating. The family will receive family and friends on Saturday from 4-8 p.m. at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel and 1 hour prior to the service.

November 14, 2014 at 9:48 pmWe all have had people in our life that taught us a good lesson or made an impact on choices we make as we grow up. This gentleman was one of those for me. Mr A was a friend of my father and gave me my first job working in the backroom of his flower shop cleaning roses and he gave me the opportunity to move up to the front of the store where his wife taught me flower design. That job set a precedent for me on having a good work ethic. Rest in peace Mr. A and my sympathies to the family.
