Jerry A. Wilson
Lansing, Michigan.
Age 77 passed away, May 20, 2016 in Plainwell, Michigan. He was born February 8, 1939, in Lansing to the late Perry and Josephine (Maier) Wilson.
Jerry grew up on Lansing’s South Side, where he attended Everett High School, where he played the Tenor Saxophone in the band. Following graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where for five years he served as a Petty Officer 2nd Class Radio Man on a troop carrier in the Pacific. After serving in the Navy he worked for 40 years at General Motors in Quality Control. Once semi-retired he and Darlene moved to Barryton, Michigan for part of the year where he loved cutting trees, and as luck would have it, he didn’t die by falling out of a tree.
Jerry is survived by Darlene, his wife of 33 years; a brother, Monty (Joy) Wilson; sister-in-law, Mary Ann (Brian) Wilcox; brother-in-law, Thomas Schlichter; and also nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by a niece Kara Wilcox, and best friends: Dale Thelen and Vern Sillman.
The funeral for Jerry Wilson will be 12:00p.m. Thursday, May 26, 2016, at the Deepdale Memorial Gardens Chapel. Visitation will be half an hour prior to the service at Deepdale Memorial Gardens Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. Arrangements are by the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.

I am sure you are both looking down upon us all and saying not to worry we are playing bollo-ball, and winning every game. RIP Jerry you will be missed. Please keep my hubby busy , and take care of each other.

May 22, 2016 at 8:32 pmMy brother Jerry never asked for much. In fact, he was more a giver. His neighbors in Barryton will attest to that.
As a brother all I had to do was ask for help and he came from Barryton to Plainwell to assist me in my projects. We cut a lot of trees down over the years and we were in the process of cutting some trees Friday. The 911 person was a great help; the EMS team was a great help as was the Sheriff’s team. Nothing could be done; it was time for Jerry to leave us.
I not only lost a brother, but a friend that I can’t replace. It will be lonely for me for a long, long time.
The sun was shinning; the birds were singing and it was quiet. I pray that he will find our parents and his friends; that peace will continue to be with him.

Bollo-Ball will never be the same without you and my step-dad Dale. I know that you and Dale are looking after us down here and getting our place ready for when its are time to join you guys up there in heaven. Thank you for your service in the Navy. May 26, 2016 at 11:36 amGary has so many memories of Jerry. Truthfully we thought he had passed away years ago. We so wish we had known that he hadn’t as we would have been in touch. I (Marilyn) was born in Barryton and we live in Cadillac. Gary remembers spending the night along with Kenny Short at Jerry’s home before he went into the Navy and seeing him off the next morning.
