James Robert "J.R." Riggle

Riggle, James Age 69, Onondaga, Michigan, passed away November 8, 2013 at his home. He was born March 3, 1944 in Lansing to Rance “Bud” and Lorene (Ringenberg) Riggle.

Jim was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, later worked for General Motors, retiring after 38 years. He was a member of Local 1618, enjoyed hunting and loved NASCAR.

He is survived by his wife Rita Riggle; children: Robert (June) Riggle, Richard Riggle, and Sherry Riggle; grandchildren: Aubree, Jagger, Jenna, Ashley, Christafer, Myles, Jennifer, and Jestin; a great-grandchild, Ali’Yanna; sisters: Jane Riggle-Miller and Janyce (Tim) Driver; an uncle, Harry Henderson; mother-in-law, Fleta Kinney, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and father-in-law, Wayne Kinney.

The funeral service for Jim Riggle wll be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel. Visitation of family and friends will be 7:00-9:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Those planning to make a donation in Jim’s name may do so to the Capital Area Humane Society.

Although you always wanted to appear tough, we knew deep down you really cared who your friends were. We certainly appreciate that you wanted to be independent and didn’t want anyone to check on you. But Jim would stop by to see you anyway! Now your aches are gone and you are now in a much happier place. We’re sorry you’re gone, but it’s for the best. You’ll be missed, even though you don’t want to be (!!!) .

Oh, Uncle Jim, the thought of your wisecracks and funny stories, combined with your hilarious orneriness makes me smile. It has been a long time since I saw you last… no harm no foul… just how life is sometimes.

You always tried to act so tough but I knew you since I was born and you did have a heart of gold.

To my cousins, I pray you can find peace for the past, the present and the future and if any of you know Uncle Jim’s recipe for his awesome coleslaw I need you to make me some.
